Endometriosis is a chronic illness affecting our whole body, and our whole life. While symptoms vary from person to person, most people agree there is a serious lack of comprehensive treatment and real support. This 5-week yoga series is designed to offer pain management tools, community support, and a deeper understanding of endometriosis’ effect on our body. We’ll integrate asana (postures), mudra (energetic seals), and pranayama (management of energy through breath) tailored to address the unique challenges of endometriosis.
Whether you were formally diagnosed during a laparoscopic surgery or are self-managing the effects of suspected endometriosis, this space is for you. This series offers specific yoga practices to integrate with your current treatment.
What to Expect:
Week 1: Awareness + Asana
Learn how your muscles and organs are affected by endometriosis. We’ll practice asana aimed at creating more blood flow and mobility in our lower abdomen, pelvis and legs. Build awareness of how endometriosis affects your body individually, and what movements can offer relief.Week 2: Re-Education and the Relief Cycle
Many of us are experiencing a never ending pain cycle. Let’s learn how to break this pattern and re-educate our brain and muscles. Relief cycle, here we come!Week 3: Strengthening and Support
Pain can keep us stuck in a sedentary lifestyle; but we can actually reduce pain through strengthening our core and building pelvic stability. Learn how and when to integrate these low-impact strengthening exercises. (Spoiler: no more kegels!)Week 4: Restorative Practices for Relaxation
Dive into restorative yoga to find muscular relaxation and stress reduction. These practices are designed to soothe overactive nervous systems and create a sense of inner safety.Week 5: Reflection and Integration
Conclude the series with practices you can incorporate into your life. Identify what can be part of your daily routine, and what can be used as-needed during flare ups.
